Obituary of Steven A. Kramer

Steven A. Kramer Age 64, entrepreneur and lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, died Dec. 26, the Catholic feast day of St. Stephen, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. A native of Fort Wayne, IN., Steven lived in Grand Rapids before moving to Detroit in 2003. As a young boy, underwent two surgeries for a brain aneurysm at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Resulting brain damage left him with paralysis of his left side, cognitive struggles and a seizure disorder. Life highlights included starting a series of home-based businesses, including a direct-mail sorting business and attending the Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp led by players from the World Series-winning 1968 Tigers. He also relished volunteering through the Grand Rapids chapter of AMBUCS, a nonprofit service group devoted to developing mobility and independence for people with disabilities. In Detroit, he worked part-time occasionally on direct mail projects for Crain Communications, where his sister is publisher of Crain's Detroit Business. A client of Community Living Services of Wayne County, Steven met Marguerite Morgan in 2004; Marguerite helped him build a life in which he felt appreciated and valued. His mother, Solina Kramer, moved to Henry Ford Village retirement community in Dearborn to be closer to her son. In addition to his mother, sister Mary and Marguerite Morgan, Steven is survived by brothers Paul (Mary Martin) of Columbus, OH, and David, Cincinnati, OH, and sisters Barbara (Dan) Olmsted of Gowen, MI and Pamela of Los Angeles.
