Geraldine Mary Lys

Lake Orion, MI

December 30, 1940 – September 11, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geraldine (Geri) Mary Lys (nee Zuch), a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us on September 11, 2023, at the age of 82. Geri was born on December 30, 1940, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Raymond and Genevieve Zuch. She passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with various ailments.

Geri touched the lives of countless individuals with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. She was a beacon of light, a source of inspiration, and a pillar of strength for all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her children, Michael (Denise), Lance, Bruce (Sandi), Renae (Todd) and Stacey, were the center of her world, and she provided them with love, support, and guidance that they will forever cherish. She imparted important values such as kindness, compassion, and resilience, leaving a legacy that will be carried on through generations.

Her nurturing personality extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a loving grandmother to Elise, Collin, Lauren, Lance Jr., Brooke, Robert, Mitchell, Nathan, Hannah, Hayden, Holly, and Isabella. She generously shared her love and wisdom, creating special moments that will forever be treasured. Her home was always open, and she loved welcoming the entire family for the holidays while cooking a feast for all to share and enjoy.

In her spare time, you could find Geri in the kitchen. This was the heart of her home and where family congregated to talk, laugh, eat, and reap the rewards of her natural ability to make everything taste so good, especially her delicious Polish food! She also had an eye for shopping and watching a favorite TV show Judge Judy; all of these interests brought her immense joy! Geri also treasured time throughout the years with her beloved dogs Tiny, Squirt, Muffy (1 & 2), and Andy who rarely missed a daily ride with “Mom”. And anyone close to Geri knew about her passion for the Christmas holiday. It was not unusual to see decorations up before Halloween and still around after February 1st, with Johnny Mathis playing constantly on the stereo.

While we mourn Geri’s passing, we also celebrate the life she lived and the indelible impact she had on all of us. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and her love will continue to guide us in our journeys. As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman, we find solace in knowing that her legacy lives on in the love, compassion, and kindness she shared with her family.

A loving and devoted wife, Geri is joined in heaven by her husband Michael, as well as her parents, brothers Vincent, Robert and Edwin, nephew Bobby, and her brother-in-law Fred. She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends who will always hold her dear in their hearts.

A private Celebration of Life to honor Geraldine's life will be held on October 28, 2023, in Lake Orion.

Geraldine will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave to others.
