Obituary of Roberta H. Wisler

~  Roberta H. Wisler  ~

Roberta Haiges Wisler, age 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 6, 2023, the same day as her late husband, Will, 24 years earlier!  She was surrounded by many loved ones – grandchildren and great-grandchildren – the room was filled with so much love!

Roberta (“Bert”, “Doll”) was born on March 22, 1927 in Oak Park, Illinois, the youngest of four children.  All of her siblings have preceded her in death – John, Elizabeth (Betty) and Carolyn (Ki).

Roberta attended Oak Park and River Forest High School.  She married her sailor-sweetheart, Will Wisler, on September 28, 1946.  They first moved to Pennsylvania, then New York and finally settled in Michigan.  While raising her two sons, Robert and Cameron, she was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church for over 60 years!  She served in numerous roles – contributions counter, nursery worker, Sunday school teacher for toddlers, a deaconess and a member of the mission board.  She also served in various offices of her Christian Partners Sunday Bible class.  Roberta was the first secretary of Southfield Christian School and actually helped to open the doors of the school in 1970.  Additionally, she worked as an administrative assistant at Chrysler, Federal Mogul and Lawrence Technological Institute.  Throughout her life, Roberta loved her daily Bible reading, enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing dominos, doing puzzles and delighted in making her famous spiced pecans and Christmas cookies for family and friends.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Roberta, affectionately known as “Mimi”, was a Godly woman who cherished the role of prayer warrior for her family.  She believed in her prayers being answered, some 30-40 years later!  Mimi was definitely a pillar of faith, was devoted to her family and always had a kind word or encouragement for everyone she met.  Her legacy of faith and family values will now be carried on by her sons, their wives, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roberta was the faithful wife of 53 years to the late Wilbert; devoted mother to Robert (Valerie) and Cameron (Kimberly); beloved “Mimi” to Nicole (Brandon) Jezdimir, Joshua Abegg, Anthony (Lauren) Guastella, Chelsea Abegg, Joshua (Emily) Guastella, Paige (Zackary) Schroeder, Madison Wisler, Chandler (Amanda) Wisler, Cody (Kelli) Willsey, Hudson (Maddie) Wisler, Carson Wisler; treasured “Great-Mimi” to Noah Jezdimir, Haily Abegg, Zane Abegg, Caleb Jezdimir, Christina Abegg, Isaac Jezdimir, Greta Guastella, Graham Guastella, Simon Guastella, Grace Guastella and Addylynn Willsey.  Roberta is also survived by nieces Roberta (late Dan), Jean (Ed) Yost and nephew Jack (Linda) Haiges and great nieces and nephew and grand nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Highland Park Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan on Friday, November 10, 2023 with visitation from 10:00-11:00am and the service from 11:00-12:00pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southfield Christian School.  Both Will and Roberta were proud supporters of the school since it’s inception in 1970.  Robert and Cameron started their SCS education that first year and were graduates in ’77 and ’82, respectively.
