Obituary of Ruth Rebecca Owen

Ruth Rebecca (Becky) Owen Becky (Griswold) Owen passed into our Heavenly Father’s presence on June 7 th, 2023. Her precious family has surrounded her with prayer and their presence, in her battle to overcome multiple health complications, resulting from mold exposure.

Becky was born December 27 th , 1949 to Arthur Bernard Griswold and Goldie Larena Griswold, the eldest daughter of six children. Becky grew up with a beautiful appreciation of all things gardening. As a child, her wonder of gardening grew as she planted her first kernel of corn at a young age, and to her family’s amazement, it grew! Becky went on to become a Master Gardener, through the MSU Extension, Master Gardener Program. Becky loved being outdoors and shared her vast knowledge of gardening, art and cooking, with her family, friends, and beloved grandchildren. Becky’s love of flowers, gardens and food, was exceeded only by her love of the Lord, her love for Bill, and of her precious Family.

Becky is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William (Bill) Owen, her children: William (Amy) Owen, Jr, Jeffrey (Kristen) Owen, Jennifer (Joshua) Rosenbrook, as well as siblings: Robert Mitchell, Ronald (Shelby) Griswold, Clark (Della) Griswold, Richard (Carole) Grisworld, Debbrin Lecki. Also surviving are Becky’s beloved grandchildren: Layne, Rebekah, Sylvia, Nathan, and Aubrey. Becky’s weekly gatherings of cherished time with her grandchildren, instilling wisdom, character, and numerous skills in discipleship, art, cooking and life, were a gift of time and legacy which will endure in each of these precious lives and generations to come.

A Celebration of Becky’s life and legacy, open to family and friends, will be held at her family home on Saturday, June 17 th at 12:00 Noon, with food following the service. Becky’s gardens will again welcome family and friends as we celebrate her extraordinary life and all she has planted in each of our lives. Blessings, Becky; may heaven welcome you as you have welcomed each of us into your life, into your home, and into your gardens
