Obituary of Frances Lenore Margerum

Frances L. Margerum (nee Esnault), age 72, beloved wife of Roger, passed away on January 9, 2009, in Detroit Henry Ford Hospital. Frances was born in Chicago, where she graduated from Hyde Park High School before moving to the West Coast and earning her Teaching Credentials from California State College. She began teaching at Jefferson High School in Los Angeles. Early in her career, she decided to specialize in Reading Education and did teach in several Chicago area high schools before obtaining her Master's Degree from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She taught at Detroit's Kettering, Mt. Clemens High Schools and Henry Ford Community College. In 1989, she became the Founder, President and Executive Director of the Professional Adult Reading Services. The service was a successful two component private business providing individual reading instruction and speed reading classes to adults. Interspersed with teaching assignments, Frances succeeded in becoming an accomplished weaver and had patrons in Chicago and Detroit. Frances married Roger in 1973, and was a significant source of support in his architectural business at an administrative level during its 35 years. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her sister, Kathy. A memorial is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Lung Cancer Research or Diabetes Research.
