Orville David Philipp

Orville David Philipp (Orv) passed peacefully at 1:28AM on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Born in Port Huron, Michigan on October 31, 1932.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn Louise Philipp (married 53 years), sister Eleanor Hudson, brother Alden Philipp and sister Melva Hudson  

He is survived by loving wife Marilyn Philipp (married 14 years) and a sister Donna Calies, 5 children: Sharon Philipp Stewart (Dale) of Fort Wayne, IN, David Philipp (Cheryl) of Gaylord, MI, Timothy Philipp (Anita) of Whitmore Lake, MI, Beth Philipp Strelczuk of Plymouth MI and Stephen Philipp (Kattia) of Camden, MI, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

Orville was drafted into the US Army and served in Korea, earning: Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, United National Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.    He attended Bethel University (Mishawaka, Indiana) majoring in Biblical Studies and Elementary Education.  He served as a pastor in Michigan for the Missionary Church for 30 years and taught 5th and 6th grade for Ann Arbor Public Schools for 25 years.   

Orville was known for his delightful sense of humor, warm heart and loved to share how the Lord had impacted his daily life. One of his last statements was, “Tell them to love each other.  Tell them to hold on to Jesus and love each other, that is the only thing that matters.”  

Orville requested cremation.  

A Service of Celebration for Orville Philipp will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00am with visitation at 10:00am in the Chapel of Ward Memorial, 40000 Six Mile Rd, Northville, MI 48168.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ward Church, 40000 Six Mile Rd, Northville, MI 48168.
