During Patrik’s childhood days, when he lived near my home in Scio Township, he was a frequent visitor early after I moved in. He and sister Veronika came to “check us out” as we moved in and from then on, if he saw me out in the yard trimming bushes or gardening, I could count on him to come and tell me stories and ask questions, for hours about everything from frogs and fish to favorite foods, games and movies. I have many fond memories of the stomping of grapes with my son Josh and sister Veronica as his Mom and I prepared to make wine; coming in on the days I watched after getting off the school bus and insisting that chocolate chips are probably the best ingredient for pancakes. These were the most commonly requested after school snack for him, Josh and Veronika and then we were all off to the neighbor’s pond to fish for the rest of the day for several years. Patrik was a great friend and help to my son Josh as they waited for the school bus when I was off to work and then a guide and mentor at the Ann Arbor Academy. I am so sad to hear of his passing and I send my condolences to friends and family. The world is now missing a very kind, curious and gentle soul. He will live on in our memories with great fondness and love. Kathryn Bennett
