Obituary of Dagny H. Forrest

Dagny H. Forrest, Age 90, of Ann Arbor (formerly of Detroit), died on February 7, 2010 at Hillside Terrace in Ann Arbor. Dagny was born August 14, 1919 in Negaunee, Michigan, the daughter of Matt and Miina Lammi. She left the U.P. in 1942 to attend the Business Institute in Detroit, followed by a 13 year career with Price Waterhouse. She left her position after giving birth to her one and only child, thereafter becoming a full-time homemaker. She was married on May 8, 1948 to Stanley J. Forrest and they remained together for 47 years, until his death in 1995. Survivors include her daughter Layale (Bryan) Weinert and three grandchildren (Caroline, Naomi and Emmeline). Dagny loved to sew, read, play Scrabble, listen to opera and follow politics. She deeply cherished her Finnish heritage. She was an active member at Bethany Lutheran in Detroit for many years, serving as a Girl Scout leader and member of the Altar Guild and Women's Guild. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Liberty, Ann Arbor, 48103.
