Obituary of Vernon Fields

Vernon Fields was born Sunday, June 1, 1952. He was raised in Inkster, Michigan in a family of 12 siblings by Bland and Gertrude (McNary) Fields. Both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Inkster High School in 1970.

Vernon found his lifelong mate in Charlotte Boyce and they were married May 7, 1977. Together they raised four children - LaSalle, Kendell, LeTeria and TeLeah. Later that year, he was baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses as a symbol of what culminated in over 40 years of dedication to Jehovah. His faith was a guiding force in his life and he would go on to serve in various congregations working to spread the good news of Gods Kingdom.

As a young adult, Vernon became part owner in a car garage service named B.F.P. (Burroughs, Fields, Payton) located on the westside of Detroit. Vernon was very gifted in handiwork which allowed him to run his own business VSC (Verns Service Company) for most of his life. VSC offered affordable services such as carpet cleaning, rental property rehab, and professional janitorial services. When he retired VSC, he continued to be self-employed primarily as a general contractor and master mechanic. His latest business venture was building commercial grills, smokers and bbq pits. In his spare time, he pursued his love of fishing, writing poetry and woodworking.

After a long battle with his health, Vernon passed away at home in Inkster, Michigan on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Vernon is survived by his wife: Charlotte (Boyce) Fields, his four children: LaSalle William Bowyer, Kendall Lloyd Bowyer (Khalilah), LeTeria Nneka Binta Beck, and TeLeah Charvonne Beard (Erik), seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

His siblings: Roger Fields (ChCola), Blondell Fields, Michael Fields (Kimberly), Donald Fields, Marilyn Fields, Cedric Fields, Garnett Fields, Clarice Williams. Three of his siblings preceded him in death: Cheryl Fields, Jewel Fields, and Gerald Fields.
