It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved brother, son, friend, and father, Shawn Ryan Norman, 31, took his own life on Monday, April 11thin Garden City, MI. He is remembered for his humor, his generosity, his shy, loving smile, his innate desire to protect and defend others, and so many other cherished qualities. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and we are heartbroken to share this news.
A jointmemorial with Shawn’s father will be held at the Pavilion at Raintree Parkon Saturday, May 14th, from 11am-3pm. We plan to celebrate both of theirlivesand share our fondest memories over some good food and good beer.There will be an opportunity between 12:30-1:30pm for those whofeel so moved to speak about either of them and their impact. Shawn’s cremated remains will be joined with his fathers,lovingly planted in a living urn at the family’s home in Troy.
Shawn was born inRoyal Oak, MI toKim and Randy Norman onMarch 5th, 1991.He went to high school at Troy Athens High and graduated in 2009. He went on to work security in the hospitality industry, which suited his protective nature. Many of his coworkers and colleagues greatly appreciated the safety he afforded them and the gravity with which he honored his position.Shawn loved animals, his dogs, video games, music, and concerts. He enjoyed being outside in the sun, football, lacrosse, wrestling, and playing disc golf with friends. He loved to and took pride in being someone you could lean and depend on.
Shawn is survived by his parents, Randy and Kim, his siblings, Lyndsey, Kyle, and Samantha, his three children, Riley, Jo, and Delta, and his dogs, Hercules and Zeus.
