Obituary of Sharon E. Nowak

Sharon Elaine Nowak, age 71, of Shelby Township, passed away on December 26, 2021 at home with her loving husband by her side. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 26, 1950 to Jack Brown and Joan Kulik. She was a caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

In June 1985, Sharon married the love of her life, Edmund Martin Nowak “Marty.”Among other things they had in common, both Sharon and Marty enjoyed living on the water; first in St. Clair Shores and then in Shelby Township. They loved watching the way the sun glistened over the water as it set and cruising around in their paddle boat with their grandchildren.

In her spare time, Sharon was always busy making something. She was a crafter through and through. She was skilled at sewing/embroidery, painting (watercolor and acrylic), scrapbooking, beadwork, and so much more. Her handmade cards were often called works of art by those who received them. She also made so many treasures on her sewing machine: christening gowns for her grandchildren, clothing, scarves, costumes and many more exquisite items.Sharon worked as a bookkeeper for Lakeview public schools in St. Clair Shores, Michigan until her retirement. After retirement, she spent much of her time gardening and crafting. She enjoyed helping friends and family decorate and she had an eye for detail (and sparkle). She was an enthusiastic teacher and supporter of other artists and crafters. But above all, her most treasured time was that spent with her beloved grandchildren: Dane, Tristan and Evie.

She is survived by her husband, Edmund; siblings Deborah Yamin (Dennis), Jacqueline Johnson (James), Timothy Brown, and Denise Burke; children Sharyl Oliver-Augustitus (Daniel), Tammie Oliver Smith; step-daughter Pamela Morgan and grandchildren Dane Augustitus, Tristan Smith, and Evie Smith; as well as many other family members, friends, and colleagues.

Sharon did not want a funeral, instead the family is planning to hold a small memorial at a later date. If Sharon touched your life and you want to do something, the family asks that you donate to the Make a Wish Foundation atwish.org(making someone’s wish come true would be such a honor in her memory) and/or plant something outdoors in her honor (when the weather permits).
