Obituary of Sara Marie Cash

Sara Marie (McCleer) Cash, age 76, died May 3, 2021 at Ashley Court Senior Living Center in Brighton, Michigan. Sara was born on December 29, 1944 in Jackson, Michigan to Lawrence (Clyde) and Caroline (Kirk) McCleer of Gregory. She graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1962. Sara moved from Gregory to Ann Arbor and took classes in keypunching which led to her 30 year career at the University of Michigan. In 1973 she met her future husband Bruce A. Cash of Alpena (deceased). They were married three months later on August 24, 1973. They bought a house in Whitmore Lake where they lived for the next 40 years. Together they raised two sons, Matthew M. Cash of South Lyon and Brett S. Cash (deceased). Sara was known for her giving heart and loyal friendship. She was an active participant in Al-Anon (support for family and friends of addicts) and her local Catholic church. She was plagued by health problems in her life, including Parkinson’s Disease, which she faced bravely. She is survived by her son Matthew, daughter-in-law Rebecca Gotthardt, sisters Ann McAleer, Mary McAleer, Marcia Basore, brother Jim McCleer, nephew Bill Navarre, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce, son Brett, brother Brian McCleer, brother Timothy McCleer, and sister Carolyn Stoddard.
