Obituary of Richard Michael Mieszkowski

Richard Mieszkowski, 78, died Friday, January 31, 2020 at Providence Hospital in Southfield following a brief battle with cancer. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, and spent over 3 decades working at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren as a skilled tradesman. He had since been retired for over 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen, and sister, Barbara Griffey. He is survived by stepson John Brockett (Cheryl), adopted stepdaughter Kimberly Beaman (Alan), daughter Jennifer Griffin (Mark), son Richard Mieszkowski (Michelle), brother Jerry Mieszkowski, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many close friends and extended family.

He had a love for classic cars and spent most weekends going to car shows to be around good friends, hot rods, and rockin oldies music. While he loved the true beauty of all classic street rods, he seemed to have special admiration for the all-steel 1934 Ford Victoria, having owned and restored three. He was also a proud member of car clubs, including Night Cruisers and Night Moves, where he was known as "Vicky Rick" or "Dick M".

He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
