Patricia (Pat) Alrene Merrow was born on June 2nd, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan. Patricia grew up the second child of Albert Merrow and Ora (Epley)Merrow, also with her older brother William. She had many cherished friends attending school and graduating from North Farmington High School in 1961.
After graduation, she soon started working at Consumers Power Company, where she met the love of her life and future husband Richard Leroy Alkire, who worked at the same company. One day, he spilled coffee on her in the cafeteria and the rest was history. Soon after, Richard called Patricia for a date and in April 1963 they were engaged to be married. The wedding took place on October 12th of 1963 at the Methodist Church in Farmington, where her mother was a devoted member.
By July 1964 they were starting a family, and settled into a beautiful home on Wing St. in Northville. This was where the family grew to include Kathleen Alkire(Michael) Yerkes, Thomas Alkire and Cherie (Scot)Alkire Chapman. Dick and Pat had a wonderful marriage of 61 years.
Pat lived her life helping others, from being a girl scout leader to volunteering for many charities including the Lions club. Her hobbies including crafting, bingo, and she would never miss a trip to the casino. Pat possessed the gift of gab and was always willing to chat with everyone, creating many dear friends.
Pat was a devoted Mother and grandmother to Alison (Kathleen) Noel Alkire and Katie (Cherie) Marie Shurmur. Her happiest moments were the times she spent with her family and she made it clear that she loved them all equally and without regrets.
After several months of in home hospice, she passed peacefully at her residence in South Lyon, MI. Her family was praying for her eternal peace.
A graveside memorial service will take place on May 31st, 2025 @2:00 pm at the Rural Hill cemetery in Northville, Michigan.
