Louis "Sandy" Berry

Louis “Sandy” Berry passed away at age 88 in his sleep on September 3, 2024.

He was born November 5, 1935 to Henry O. and Leona M. (nee Russell) Berry in Detroit.  He was preceded in death by wife Geraldine and sister Linda (Keith) Chirillo.  Sandy is survived by six sisters, Lois Laurie, Laura Baker, Karyn (Warren) Wells, Elayne (Everett) Bielby, Debbie (Carlton) Taylor, Michelle (Jimi) D’Amato and f irst wife LaVerne Ross, mother of his four children, Danny (Nanine) Berry, Scott (Steve Krebaum) Berry, Randy (Lynn) Berry and Lori McDaniels.  He is also survived by loving step-children, Kathy (Jim) Bloch, Debbie (Ken) Wagner, Sherry (Jerry) Sartwell, Roe (Jackie) Litteral and Bruce (Donna) Litteral.  With this size family there are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Sandy was battling heart and lung failure, cared for and living with Randy and Lynn after moving from his home overlooking Mud Lake in Brooklyn, MI and his “Lake Family”.   He worked many jobs in his early years primarily at Firestone Steel Products before settling into a career as a licensed builder.  He was also busy with a successful prison ministry, sharing his faith in Jesus and making long trips to northern Michigan.  He loved dancing, fishing and motorcycle camping trips with wife “Gerry” and after three long years is happy once again to be dancing on the waves with her.

There will be a celebration of life for Sandy Berry at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Irish Hills Aerie 3689 in Brooklyn, MI on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 am.
