Obituary of Leonard Richard Rakowicz

Leonard Richard Rakowicz 87, passed away November 1st surrounded by his family. He is now reunited with his loving wife of 63 years Rita. Cherished father of Gary (Theresa), Steve (Anna), Greg (Kelly), the late Robert, John (Carol), Diane (Doug) and Kenneth (Cintia). Beloved grandfather of Garett (Josie), Gregory (Gina), Angela, Gretchen, Joey, Brad, Matt (Jamie), Stephanie (Ben), Rachel (Joseph), Morgan, Sarah, Leah, Jade, Sean, Lilly as well as a great grandfather and great great grandfather to many more.

Leonard served in the military from 1953-1955. While enlisted, he met and married Rita in Texas on November 25th, 1954. They moved to Michigan soon after and raised their family in Livonia.

After a 30 year career at AAA, Leonard was able to retire in the early 90s. Then he and Rita got to more frequently stay at their winter home in the Florida Keys.

Leonard was an active member of the Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir in both Michigan and Florida.

Monday, November 9th at 11am the family will be holding a Graveside Memorial Service at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia.
