Jimmy "Jim" Fileccia

March 17, 1961 — November 25, 2024

Jimmy “Jim” Allen Fileccia, 63, of Garden City passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024.

Jim was born on March 17, 1961, in Wayne, Michigan, to Yvonne (Potter) Fileccia and the late Joseph Fileccia. He graduated from South Lyon High School.

He spent many years working in the automotive industry. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, and was an avid deer hunter for most of his life. The Detroit Lions and The Michigan Wolverines were his passion.

He married his love, Cheryl Smith, on September 15, 1984, and together they had two daughters and raised them in Garden City. After retiring, Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his mother, Yvonne Fileccia of Fowlerville, MI, his sister, Patti (Ken) Gelinas of Florida, three half siblings, and his daughters Amanda (Craig) Post, Samantha Fileccia (Tyler Meadows). “Papa” leaves 4 grandchildren behind who loved him immensely; Mila, Paisley, Elliana, and Beau.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Joseph Fileccia.

Jim will be remembered for his love of music and for welcoming his children’s friends into his home and his swimming pool, and for his ability to share stories and memories to anyone that would lend an ear.

Per Jim’s final wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes scattered in the hunting woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. There will not be a formal service held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the  American Diabetes Association  or to the  Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan Foundation  .
