Obituary of Gilbert Newman

Gilbert "Wayne" Newman. Wednesday October 15th, 2008

Gilbert "Wayne" Newman departed this life at the age of 84. He passed away October 15th, 2008 at William Beaumont Hospital. The cherished son of the late Albert and Cecelia (Pointer) Newman, Wayne was born June 27th, 1924 in Mecosta, Mi. He married the late Pearl (Bacon)Newman on June 23rd, 1946 in Ann Arbor Mi.

Wayne had an extraordinary love for food. He spent over 30 years as the executive chef at the Pretzel Bell in Ann Arbor. He also catered with Hunter's Harvest.

He is survived by seven sons: Ronald (Barbara), Donald, Albert, Ralph, Keith (Deborah), Paul and Kenneth. Wayne is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and his caring friend Jean Simons.

Preceding him in his death were his son Michael, two sisters Patricia and Mary, four brothers Robert, Stanley, Donald and Kenneth. Wayne was a jewel and blessing to all who knew him. He will be missed by all those left behind.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday October 22, 2008 11:00am; New Hope Baptist Church 218 Chapin St. Ann Arbor MI 48103.
