Galey Gene (Pickelsimer) Dimercurio, 74, of Farmington Hills, MI passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Beaumont Commons in Farmington Hills, MI in the company of her youngest son and his wife, Lorn and Heather Morden and her friend of 63 years, Janet Curlee.
Born on October 31, 1949 in Detroit, MI to Rosetta (Russell) and Clemer Pickelsimer, Galey grew up between Detroit, MI, and Dalton, GA. While in Dalton, GA she would often be in the care of her beloved grandmother, Francis, out on the farm while her father, Clemer, worked as a welder. While in Detroit with her mother Rosetta and her step-father Marter, she was surrounded by many siblings and her best friend Janet.
Galey graduated from Western High School, in Detroit. Galey often worked two and three jobs at a time while raising her kids. One of those jobs was at General Motors, until she injured her back. In her later years she looked forward to working in the gift shop at the senior center in Michigan where she volunteered for 20 years.
Galey was known for her sense of humor, her love of music, movies, plays, theater, and game shows. She could “name that tune in two notes,” and never missed an answer to ‘Wheel of Fortune’ or ‘Jeopardy.’ Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Galey was predeceased by her parents, Rosetta and Marter Daniel and Clemer and Stella Pickelsimer, her sisters Marilyn and Martie, her brothers Donald and Steven, and her daughter Kimberly. Galey is survived by her three children: Veronica Deglman and her husband Frank; Jeff Ezell and his wife Fannie; Lorn Morden and his wife Heather; her grandchildren: Amanda Morley and her husband Migual, James Deglman, Dylan Ezell Cartier, Aaron Ezell, Lorn Morden III, Zachary Morden, and Luke Morden; her great grandchildren: Izabella Molina and Lucian Molina; sister’s Liz Kelk and Patti Champagne, sister-in-law Jane Pickelsimer; brother Kim Daniel and Uncle Robert Pickelsimer and his wife Sue.
