Doris Boyd

December 23, 1931 — July 1, 2024

Doris Boyd, 92, of Royal Oak MI. passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at her granddaughter’s home, on July 1st, 2024. In her youth, Doris took pride in her jobs as a car hop curb girl and an elevator operator. In 1950 she married her high school sweetheart, Arthur Boyd and was a happily devoted wife, mother and homemaker until becoming widowed in December of 1984. Throughout her life Doris appreciated staying active and was involved in many clubs and groups. She was an avid golfer and top-notch bowler, winning several tournaments in both. She adored her dogs and loved taking long walks with them. She enjoyed reading and collecting porcelain dolls/figurines; but her one true passion was quilting! Doris was always delighted to show off her completed quilts and relished in sharing her personally created, unique designs, inspiring others to follow her lead. In the latter years of life, Doris re-connected with an old friend from High School, Bob Mosley (94) of Troy, MI. and the two quickly fell in love! Together, they’ve spent the last twelve years making the most of life; frequently attending concerts and shows, traveling often, and taking part in adventures like paragliding, hot-air ballooning, zip-lining, and so much more! Doris is survived by two granddaughters, Colette Boyd (52) of St. Petersburg, Fl. and Caren Boatman (45) of Warren, MI. along with two great-grand-children, Martin Boatman III (21) and Sebastian Boatman (19), both of Warren, MI. Doris will forever be remembered for her kind, caring, stubborn and independent nature, love of animals, passion for quilting, and overall zest for life. *A memorial service will be held at a later date and invitations will be sent by mail.
